Josef Berger has more than 20 years of experience in high-speed optics. He is the Associate Vice President, Cloud Optics Marketing at Marvell. In this role, Josef is focused on next generation data center interconnect solutions. Prior, Josef was the Associate Vice President Marketing, Optical Interconnect at Inphi, which was acquired by Marvell. Previous to Inphi, he was the Chief Commercial Officer at Optical Zonu, an analog fiberoptic systems company, developing wireless solutions for US carriers and government agencies. Josef also held roles at Source Photonics serving as its Vice President of Global Sales, Marketing and Business Development and was Director of Product Marketing at Opnext, which later merged with Oclaro. He holds a B.S. degree in Engineering Physics from the University of Applied Sciences Munich and a M.S. degree in Physics from San Diego State University. Josef is an alumnus of the Harvard Business School, Program for Leadership Development.

Mark is Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder of Ayar Labs. His prior roles at Ayar Labs include Chief Technology Officer and Senior Vice President of Engineering. He is recognized as a pioneer in photonics technologies and, prior to founding the company, led the team that designed the optics in the world’s first processor to communicate using light. He and his co-founders invented breakthrough technology at MIT and UC Berkeley from 2010-2015 which led to the formation of Ayar Labs. He holds a PhD from University of Colorado.

Philippe Absil received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Maryland, College Park, MD, USA, in 2000. His doctoral work contributed to the early demonstrations of semiconductor microring resonators. In the early 2000s, he developed the passive photonics platform technology for Little Optics, Inc., Annapolis Junction, MD USA. He is now Vice President R&D and the head of the 3-D and Optical I/O Technologies Department at Imec since 2013 and has been responsible for the silicon photonics technology platform development since 2010. Before that he spent seven years managing the advanced CMOS scaling program at Imec.

Dr. Anthony J. Yu is Vice President of the Silicon Photonics Product Management organization at GLOBALFOUNDRIES (GF), where he is responsible for providing differentiated silicon photonic manufacturing services and solutions to clients across multiple industries. Prior to this role, Dr. Yu was Vice President of GF’s Computing and Wired Infrastructure Business Unit.

Before joining GF, he held multiple executive positions at IBM, including Vice President of Semiconductor Technology for Engineering and Technology Services. Yu earned his BS in Physical Chemistry from the University of California-Berkeley and his PhD in Physical Chemistry / Materials Science from Cornell University.
