Power electronics technologies are at the center of conversion, distribution, and use of electrical power in today’s critical infrastructure applications including the power grid, large-scale industrial manufacturing, electrified transportation, and digital communications. Innovations in power electronics are pivotal to achieving U.S. clean energy and decarbonization goals over the next decades. This talk will provide some highlights of AMMTO’s and other DOE office activities supporting the R&D, demonstration, and scale-up of wide bandgap power electronics, as well as sharing some information on how these advanced power electronics technologies fit into priorities and goals.
